Mazda MX5 At The Awards
“Interesting to see the all new Mazda MX5 getting in early on the awards as Test Drive magazine vote it their “”Best Roadster”" of 2006.
Going head to head with a Porsche Boxster and Nissan 350Z, the editors of the magazine described it as a “”Dream car you can actually afford.”"
Not content with beating these two superb cars, the award follows on from the previous months edition where the 1.8-litre and 2.0-litre Sport saw of the mighty MINI Cooper S Convertible and BMW’s 2.0i Z4.
In Auto Express the MX-5 2.0-litre Sport and 2.0i Z4 meet again. This time the outcome is the same again with the MX5 winning the battle with the Z4 in terms of driving experience and styling.
Finally Autocar examines the Mazda MX5 in detail, concentrating on the 2.0-litre Sport. Giving the car an impressive 4 out of 5 stars, which is above the convertible Vauxhall Tigra, Caterham and again the BMW Z4.
Not to let the MX5 take all the glory, in the magazine the RX8 also see’s off the Alfa Romeo GT and Peugeot 407 Coupe. The journalist commenting that the ‘..RX8 has a polish to its handling, ride, steering and even brake feel that is almost totaly absent from the Alfa and curiously hidden in the Peugeot.’”
